  1. Hi all, just read the Graemme Obree book, not a bad read. What interested me was his ability to train his legs to push bigger gears which he did on his stationary trainer. Next year im moving into Time trialing from road racing and would like to increase the power in my legs to turn bigger gears over. I have done a handful of time trials in the past but i have never trained specificaly for them as i have spent most of my time road racing. So what indoor workouts can do in order to help me turn bigger gears? chears

Haven't read the book you refer, but my humble understanding is that TT is about the power level one can hold for the duration of the course, in most cases somewhere in the range of 10 - 60 minutes. For TT training the 2*20 min or 3*20 min intervals are the key; there are lot of discussions about the issue on these pages going on.

  3. The current TT world champion (F. Cancellara) is using very high RPMs zu race his time trials. I don't think the Obree approach is a general recipe to be fast on TTs.

  4. My rpm in a TT or interval was 110-120 as of a month ago and now its 95-100 after a month of SE big gear training.

Choose what feels comfortable and learn how to ride MANY cadences.
