  1. Hi,

I wonder if someone could please help me put a rough value on a bike
I've got. As I got it as payment for some computing services rendered,
I don't really have an idea of how much it's worth.

The reason for wanting a value now is that I think the frame is a bit
too big for me, but one of my friends is interested in buying it. So I
would like to be able to sell it to him at a fair price.

    Specs:
    1) Frame: Puch Vent Noir II (the chrome one)
    2) Groupset: Shimano Dura-Ace
    3) It's originally came with Mavic GP4 rims on Dura-Ace hub (6-spd
freewheel) but since these required tubeless tyres, I'm currently using
Mavic Reflex on 105 with 8spd cassette with Conti Ultra Gator skin
    tyres.
    4) It's fitted with Shimano AX Dyna-Drive 1981-1984 pedals.

Photos can be supplied if this would help.

    Many thanks in advance.

This bike is probably 20 years old. Prices on these vary widely with
condition. Prices drop rapidly if the bike needs any repairs or replacement
parts or if some replacement parts are below the quality level of the
    originals.

Don't know about this. If you specify the brand and the model of tubing
(such as Columbus or Reynolds) that would help. These are both good tube
brands, but you have to specify the type of tubing. During that time,
Columbus and Reynolds made everything from the best steel tubing in the
    world to gas-pipe.

Dura-Ace what? This-years 10-speed version or Dura-Ace AX from the early
80's? If the bike has AX brakes (aka: "death brakes"😉, then I would not use
the them. They have Ebay value - but not as actual stoppers. Replacement
brake pads now are as rare as the Holy Grail.

Shifters? Bikes with (working) STI shifters generally sell for about $250+
more than bikes without. Which is weird, in that the cost of the STI
shifters new is generally less than the differential. General principle: if
someone is selling a used bike with STI shifters, it is probably because the
shifters are close to finished, and these are not servicable. Campagnolo
shifters are a different story. These days, even outstanding retro steel
frames without STI /Ergopower shifters sell for very little.

These take the funky AX pedals which have the bearings very close to the
(large hole in the) crankarm. These pedals were based on a fundamentally
flawed design, and the bearings wore out with great speed. Good
conversation piece, but not worth much. And of course, the crankset only
worked with these pedals- unless you can find the virtually unobtainable
    pedal adaptors. Good luck.

And the cranks break more often than normal around the pedal hole.
