I’ve got two bikes in the apartment that are starting to get in the way (Trek 6700 and Klein Quantum Race). I was wondering which would be the best way to store them. I’ve seen several storage systems from wall mountable to single pole designs. Is it better to hang the bikes by the wheels are by the top bar? If by the top bar, will extended periods of hanging have any effect on the frames?

I would say remove the wheels and hang the frame by the top tube. I don't fancy single brackets. If you use a 2 bracket design, let the one bracket be close to the seat post and the other close to the headset. This will distribute the weight evenly.
