  1. Hello, check out my project:

    PROJECT INFO

This is a project dedicated to develop the most comfortable and practical bicycle experience. This is not a strive for high tech performance or visual impressions. My aim is to develop the old bicycle concept further and find simple solutions possible for anyone to make. The focus is set on comfort, on enjoyment, on slow speed - not optimum speed performance. As an all year cyclist, with a lot of experience, having tested recumbent bikes, I search for a compromise. A compromise that anyone could use, in addition to an enhanced enjoyment riding a bicycle. My goal is to share my view & belief of a better tomorrow, free of pollution, noise and fast paced life.

From the photographs on your website I see that the wrists are bent outwards slightly while braking. This is surely uncomfortable and would not provide a practical braking performance in an emergency or on a prolonged ride. To get a more comfortableand effective (efficient too!) braking position the wrists would have to be level and straight or the forearms twisted 90 degrees (so the thumbs are uppermost) as when hands are on drop handlebars brakes.

Also, with all your weight over the rear wheel you are losing balance and control. I know you say slow speed and comfort but you also say practical and that geometry really isn't that. Don't mean to be negative as I like the idea of your project but practicality has to come into it. By far the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden was an old ladies philips bike similar to this:

The over long head tube gave a real straight back, upright position which made you take in the scenery rather than worry too much about the pedalling.

    Good luck with the project.
