Recently the cranks have started squieeckieng (arrest me). I think I have located the error. The right crank arm is loose. I can't take it off, but it wiggles about 2-5 mm from side to side (horizontaly). I get a vibrating sensation under my foot when I pedel. Problem is correcting it. 1. I tried the screw which goes into the BB, but after about 4-5 turns it fastens completely. I'm afraid to use force, should I? 2. The crank arm doesnt seem to bother with the screw mentioned above being loose or fastened. Some kind of wiggle. 3. Do i need any speciel equipment opening the BB?

1. Using a standard length allen wrench, you should be pushing pretty hard. 2. If the crank bolt is tight, and the crank is still moving, the problem is with the bottom bracket. 3. You'll need a crank extracter and the appropriate bb wrench. You may also need a new bb.
Thanks for the reply. The crank arm is seperate from the chainrings, not one unit as the new ultegras records etc. Still think its a problem with the BB? I'm having problem judging how the crank arm is fastened. Would be easier if I get to open it and have a look ofcourse. Anybody opened this particular crank before?
