I've been shopping for a new road bike, today I tested the Lemond Reno and the Trek 1200. The 1200 was a 2003 and the LBS will come off the price to 750.00(new 850ish), the Reno is 829.00. The only difference is that 2003 1200 has all Tiagra and the 2004's have 105 rear derailleur's. I like the ride of them both. Also are these good bikes, or should I save more money and upgrade to the next level is Trek 1500. Any advise would be appreciated. Also I'm new to the scene and have not ridden much other than mountain bikes.

If you are going to do a lot of riding i'd save up the extra cash and try and get a 105 bike.
I bought a cheap bike to do a little training and then found out i wanted better gear and less weight etc
the 105 will be more durable and lighter than the tiagra and the 105 bikes will probably have better wheels etc
