  1. This will be my first road bike, up till now I've always had a mountain bike but now that I've moved into a city I'd like to change. I'm wondering what suggestions you might have for a decent road bike for under $1000. My main concern is a good frame (the components I can upgrade later). what do you think?

    Thanks

  2. At that price, you are looking at an entry-level aluminum frame with Sora or Tiagra components. Consider the Felt f85, Specialized Allez, Trek 1000, Trek Pilot 1.2, or Lemond Reno. If you could go up to $1200 to $1500, your options get much better. You might be able to get a good deal on a 2006 model, which would let you move up to 105 components, but the frame will still be an entry-level aluminum frame.

  3. What do you plan to do with this bike, race, commute, just ride?

  4. $1000 is a better price, thats really affordable, nice one.😄

    yeah what are your plans???

  5. I would definetly look at a Giant, maybe the OCR1 or TCR. I rode mountain bikes for years and only last year decided to try a road bike. I read a lot of reviews and finally decided on the OCR 3 and boy, I'm really pleased I did. As a first road bike it is very forgiving and handles really well. I'm looking to upgrade now, looking at a Specialized Roubaix or Giant TCR2 but that's a whole new thread.... 🙄
