Try Supergo.com, they have their house brand bikes at very reasonable prices.

Supergo sucks. 😠 They move into an area and drive make life really [censored] for Local Bike Shops. They keep opeining stores and undersell in order to try and drive out the competition. That being said, I recomend that you go get a Giant OCR 2, for $800 bucks. You did mention that you may want to race. If that's true, then you need to spend 200 more, and get yourself the OCR 1, It comes with Ultegra STI levers, and an Ultegra drivetrain. Your not going to want to get any less than this, esp if you want to race at all, even as a posibility.

Their are plenty of other good company's out there, but keep in mind that a lot of them actually pay Giant to make the frames for them, ie: Trek, Cannondale, Specialized. This isn't as true in the top end bikes, like the Trek 5200.

anyway, i have to write several papers, and I'm geting distracted, I'd say more, but if you do a search, your going to find many like discusions, try one that we had a while ago that Texastrack started, it even covers a little compact vs traditional geomitry. 😎 Good luck man, and get racing as soon as possible.
