I've planned to go to the arrochar alps (Ben Vorlich) this weekend and was wondering if anyone has been there recently or what opinions are of the best route of ascent...?
I'm looking into the south east ridge but any comments/advice would be appriciated.

Definitely in full winter coat as I passed today. Ice axe and crampons vital.

Easiest is up the hydro road to the dam then up the slopes to the summit.

Good forecast at www.mwis.org.uk

If you use Nick(Scots) route, a small tip is the path starts on the 4th pylon before the dam. It's not always easy to see. It's a bit steepish and relentless slog upwards.
I remember an army truck with what looked like squaddies standing near the opposite side of the dam all looking at me in my bright red fleece top, a few years back. Don't know who they were.
