Set off up north and East in the hope of getting a break in
an awful forecast and struck lucky. Not a drop of rain all
day, although extremely windy throughout. we climbed
Corryhabbie Hill first from the farm at Ellivreid and did
the hill exactly as the Corbett book, up over Hill of
Achmore and on to Muckle Lapprach with an easy hop to the
circular cairn round the trig point which sports a very
nice cast iron hat. A quick and direct descent took us back
to the car in just a fraction over 2 hours. A very short
drive round the corner and we took the track that leads
directly to the top of Ben Rinnes, given the clear
visibility and the width of the track we left rucksacks and
everything else except a map, compass and 1/2 ltr of water.
Up and down in 1 hour 15 minutes in spite of a very fierce
wind. Back home to Crieff by 4 pm, bone dry and 2 Corbetts,
not a bad days walk.
