Beginners-bike ...

I would look at specialized Hard Rock for an entry bike - for about
£60 more (for the XC rigid) you will get a far superior bike. I would
also recommend you take the bike for a short ride, or at least sit on
it to check for size as this will probably be one of the biggest
determinants of enjoyment.
