  1. Hi all,

I wanted to report on a few things I picked up from this group that
    worked:

Shoes: Asics GT-2100. Reccomended by the group. So far no shin spints.
The shoes are as important as everyone says they are. I was wanting to
    scrimp....not because I have to....just because I hated to buy $90
shoes and then not stick with it.

My calves have been a little tight and I have used a rolling pin to
stretch them. It has worked well.

Read Chi Running. I am not sure I "got" it. May need to re-read it and
    give it a second chance.

Doing Chuck Cornett's 5 week program (I am on my second 5 weeks....from
    Hal Higdon's How to Train)
Walk 5 minutes - run jog or walk 25 minutes - walk 5 minutes

Doing more running than walking. Maybe there IS hope. -k

That's OK -- some of us have been running quite a while and still don't
"get it" (chi running, that is) Yet we're still able to run quite well,
and enjoy it. So if you find it "way out there", you're not the only one.

Glad the shoes are working out for you.

    Cheers,

  3. I'm confused. Are you a beginner at jogging, or at conveying your
    thoughts in word form?

  4. You're dead right about the shoes, and I'm glad to see a realization of
the importance of getting good ones. Running shoes is one area where
you do NOT want to save money by buying on the cheap. You need to bite
the bullet and spend the money or you end up paying a bigger price in
    pain and injuries.

  5. Congrats on starting I was in a similiar plave about six weeks ago, it
gets better. Just stay with it!
