hey everyone, if you reply, just want to say thanks. forever in debt for the wisdom shared. im a 21 yr. old. trying to clean my act up and become a man. and i got to ride a road bicycle one day and fell in love with it. i felt complete freedom for once in my life. im almost 6 foot. about 235 pounds last time i weighed, maybe more since christmas dinners and leftovers. im supporting myself. so im having to save money for my first bicycle. i was wondering if anyone could give me a little advice on what kind of bike would be good for a beginner with a modest price, hopefully something under 1000 dollars for right now. looking for a road bike. if anyone has any other info, please let me know. im very serious.

Well I must admit that I was very taken with the specialized ALLEZ bike. It's a perfect starter bike, good components and a lovely ride. Check it out as they are under 1000 dollars and well worth it.

I bought a Felt F80 this past summer & I love it. there are a lot of really good bikes in the sub $1000 range available for beginners. I tried quite a few & liked the Felt the best.
Just go to a couple of lbs's & ride a few in your price range. You'll find a few that you like & 1 that you'll love. That's how I found mine. 😄
