anyways, I'm getting my new bike today, avanti monza, and i was wondering, if i need peadel, shoes, etc. today and any tips would be awesome, cheers, new to road biking

Awesome! I was where you were not too long ago. By pedals and shoes I'm assuming you mean clipless? If so, I would invest in them. They are nice to have and definitely more efficient. Just be careful and watch your balance, remember to unclip! I can go on about a lot of info, anything specific you want to know? I'm still learning myself. Make sure you have all your indirectly required gear, then the nice-to-have stuff.This is all obviously if you don't have it yet
Recommended:
Tire levers
Floor pump
Portable pump ( CO2, frame, etc )
Shorts
Spare tube
Patch kit
Water bottles
Cyclocomputer
Leg or knee and arm warmers for those brisk morningsKnees in, don't bounce in the saddle, move your arm position throughout the ride, back straight, move/wiggle your fingers and toes plenty, stay hydrated ( drink before you get thirsty ), stretch your legs/quads good after.
