  1. I just bought a Shimano UN73 bottom bracket, and I see that is uses a plastic retaining ring for the
left side. I have a couple questions before I install it:

    1) is there any disadvantage to the plastic ring, and if so, should I try using the ring from my old
    Shimano BB?

    2) How should I prep the plastic ring? Do I grease it as I would a steel or alloy ring? I'm putting
the BB in a steel frame.

    TIA Michael

Hmmm, guess I gotta take another look at our UN-73, thought the left cup was aluminum...

Not really, tap the right cup off as well, grease inside both and also inside the BB shell of
    the frameset.
