fits between the BB the BB shell on the frame; like the E-style BB. So,
the question is, do I have to use a E-Style FD compatable BB or can I just
use a standard one.

Both those bottom links have exactly the same picture in them, you can see
the part number of the BB and its the same for both even though the
descriptions are different. Slack web authors.
The only difference between and normal and an E type BB is the E type has a
larger diameter flange on the drive side to accommodate chain guides.
On an older bike I setup with a chain guide like that and ran it for a while
with a standard BB, it worked, but it didn't take much force to rotate the
guide when the BB was tight so yes it works, but its not ideal IMO. I guess
it depends on how big the flange is on your current BB and how tight you can
get it...
