  1. I recently installed a low/mid riser bar on my road bike. It handles and rides beautifully. I think that the bar that I used was somewhat too wide (26"😉 and I am thinking of trimming about 1" off of each end. This would bring the width close to that of most production flat bar road bikes that I have seen (23" - 24"😉

Does anyone have any input as to appropriate bar witdth for this setup?

    Thanks

Nice job. You could use those measurements as a guidline but frankly, if it is comfortable to you the leave it as it is. If you do decide to hacksaw some width off do it in smallish increments because you can't add it back on once it's been cut. Also, keep in mind you may want to put some bar ends on as well. Something like the Cane Creeks Ergos would be perfect.

I would just leave it for now and just put your hands where they are comfortable. If you find that you are consistently riding inboard on the grips, maybe experiment with sliding them in a bit and cut the bars later when you are sure what length you want. I also like the suggestion for bar ends, which may be quite useful for climbing or the give the palms a break on long rides.
