  1. Where can i get long, straight bar ends from?
I need them long enough to fit brake levers and grips to. See pics on
    http://ryanownersclub.com/scrapbook/stevewatkin/
I want to fit them to the end of my bars to replace the curved ones that I
cannot fit brakes and gear change to.

  2. They are apparently uncommon enough that mine, on my Longbikes' Vanguard,
were clearly fabricated, likely by Greg Peek/Longbikes.

Organic Engines sells some very long, very straight bar ends. They clamp
on at an angle that's specific to the angle of the OE handlebar, but may
work for you anyway, because your bar is angled too.

Mine doesn't have them. The bars just go straight out sideways and stop
with bar end shifters. My hands rest on them palm down, with my little
fingers on the ends of the brake levers - so, normal position. Brakes
on "cow horn" extensions seem to end up oriented the same way, topologically
speaking, but you grasp them the opposite way so they're sort of backwards.

I believe the straight out bars were typical on old Ryans, and since the
Longbikes Vanguard have cow horns in the pictures I've seen, I thought it
was a Longbikes idea. Evidently not, since your bike has Ryan decals all
over it. Mine has no markings - could be a knock-off for all I know,
except it would be unlikely given the (lack of) financial incentive.

I like straight out fine. It has meant a hard life for the shifters,
    but I guess they're replaceable.

    Donn

  5. I have bar-ends extending both upwards and downwards. Upwards, as Steve is
seeking, as provided by Longbikes and on which I have the barcon shifters
and hydraulic (disk) brake master cylinders. These have small ~1/16 inch
low aluminum alloy nipples that I was afraid of breaking so I used
sacrificial downwards extensions for protection. They've worked well.
