Went out for a ride on Tuesday, got as far as the railway
crossing near Gilberdyke and found I was getting slow
even for me. First thought was that the brakes were
binding again, but it was a visit from the dreaded
P*nct*re Fairy. Drat!
So out comes the spare tube and I set to work. Being a
feeble creature of very little manual dexterity it took me a
while, but eventually I got the new tube in, the tyre back
on and set off again. At least it was one of the front
wheels, so I didn't have to take the wheel off. I was quite
pleased with myself, as getting the tyre back on is
something I always find difficult.
On Wednesday I needed to go to the Post Office so off I trot
to fetch my trike, whereupon I find the tyre is flat again.
Double Drat!
Closer inspection shows that the new tube is shredded, the
tyre is damaged and - worst of all- the rim is bent. Very
Rude Words were said.
Trike is now in the living room in the process of having a
rim transplant and looking very sorry for herself.
