I just bought a Cannondale Synapse Carbon that I'll mainly be using for fitness rides. I plan to get a small seat bag to carry essentials - spare tube, pump, etc. that I'll use all the time. I'll occasionally want to use the bike for more leisurely rides with family and friends and I'd like to carry some additional things - camera, lunch, etc. I thought a lightweight seatpost rack and bag that can be installed and removed quickly would be the perfect solution. Turns out that the instructions for all the racks I've seen explicitly say not to use it with carbon fiber seatposts. Does anyone have any ideas?
I would not recommend putting any type of rack on that bike. The seat post mounting racks and fenders would be difficult to mount due to the proprietary seat post design. For the occasional loads your are planning on carrying a bar bag would suffice.
