One side effect noticed during our recent 40 mile wander of the Cumbria Way
was sore feet after the first 5 or 6 miles each day.
I walk regularly each week in the New Forest area, so mostly its on track or
bog/peat based. A solid 3 hour yomp, with no rests doesn't have any adverse
effects.
The backpacks were kept light, and to be honest were not that noticeable,
but boy did the feet sting late each day!
I wore Brasher Hillmasters (well worn in) with Sorbothan full footbed
inserts, as I've had sore feet on longer walks of 20+ miles before I used
the inserts.
Besides the obvious - more specific training with a loaded pack beforehand -
any thoughts on choice of boot. I'm on my 4th pair of Brashers and never had
this problem before, but suspected the boot flexibility may have been part
of the problem?
