  1. Hello,
Last weekend (8 days ago) during a 1.5 hr MTB race my lower back started to hurt about 30 minutes into the race. I thought it may have been caused by trying to match the gear choice of a guy on a single speed who was passing me going up an ~10min, steep hill. Yesterday, I raced a 70 mile endurance MTB race and experienced back pain from the 1hr point on. Today my back is still pretty sore.

The pain seems to be in my right spinal erector and it is sore to the touch. It also hurts a bit to sit and walk, esp as I swing my right leg forward.

On a side note, 4-6 weeks ago, I was experiencing piriformis syndrome - pretty severe pain deep in my right butt muscle, not really affecting cycling but it hurt to lie down or get into my fairly low to the ground car. I was occasionally experiencing tingling in my right foot as well. This seems to be subsiding but is not 100% gone.

Anyone have any ideas of how I can rid myself of this back pain - are the 2 conditions related? I have another race in 2 weeks and would like to cure this ASAP. Thansk.
