I did my first commute on my rebuilt (new frame/fork/chainset/cables/bar tape) Dawes Audax today. I had a bit of faffing to do with the front dérailleur, never set one up from scratch and it was a bit notchy but fine now. I was surprised how sensitive they are to minor changes in alignment, cable tension etc..
I must say, I thought the Saracen I've been using was good but the real road bike blows it away for everything. Also tried out the Garmin Quest on the bars, it was great and should help no end come Sunday's 200k Horseshoe Pass Audax.
