Wait still a little, an "Oval" version of the light is about to become
available soon: better looks, less light in the cyclist's eyes and it
seems to have better cooling for the LED dye. You will know the

As I have to replace halogen lamps very rarely I do not bother about LED
dynamo lights at the moment. They might become competitive in the
future though.

There is a short report in the CTC Gazette this month, which concurs
with my opinion. For urban commuting, aside from the longevity of the
lamp (which is a big plus for me, cuz hot halogen bulbs + fast bumpy
descents = darkness), I find the Topal better than the Oval it
replaced: it is more visible (it actualy stands-out against car
headlights, due to its colour or something), and gives a better splash
of light on the road ahead. Out of town it is useable (throws a nice
white glow up the hedges), but I think a supplementary E6Z would be
worthwhile.
I had to make my own bracket to hold the light, as none of the four
supplied fitted around the Magura brake booster/the twin-crown fork.
Brilliant. Fit and forget. I hope... we'll see how it survives the
winter, though. Most BuM kit has lasted well, except the fckecking
"Weiche" for the trailer light, which is tacky in teh extreme, often
leaving the trailer light disconnected..
