Hi, try as I might, I just cannot get the caliper of my front brake to
stop rubbing on the rotor. The rotor itself is as good as true and only
deflects by less than 0.5mm.
I have relativley new pads and it looks like the pistons do not retract
fully back int the caliper body. The pistons seem to protrude about 2mm
from the caliper body. If they could move back about 1mm each side then
the pads would be well clear of the rotor.
Does anyone know if the pistons are supposed to retract back flush with
caliper body when pushed. I have moved them around a bit with a screw
driver, but am reluctant to push too hard incase I do some damge. I did
manage to free up a slow moving piston.
Is there such a thing as piston lubricant and can I use it on my Avids?
The walls of the pistons get a bit gungy and I clean them with water.
Is this a good idea?
Thanks.
