  1. Hi guys,

I'm beginning to wonder if I have the correct part on my secondhand avid
    disc brakes.

I bought them off a friend of a friend and was wondering if my Front
Brake Mounting Bracket (the little black brace that goes between your
rock shox and the brake caliper) is actually made by avid.

I'm having my doubts as I can't quite get it adjusted correctly.

If anyone has one, can you check to see if the word AVID is etched into
the side of it like it is on the rear mounting bracket. My rear one has
the etching but not the front.

    What does yours have?

    cheers,

The one I just looked at does indeed have the word Avid cast into it, facing out at the top end of the front bracket (it's a 160 mm Ball Bearing Mountain Bike model, as opposed to the road bike model). I would imagine that these brackets are cast in multiple cavity molds, and it could just be that one cavity was not "marked", or maybe you're onto something...

    John
