My mother was recently diagnosed with Avascular Necrosis.
She lives in India. She faxed me the MRI report and the
report says following: " MR findings reveal flattening head
of left femur with irregular and wavy margins The joint
space in the left hip is mildly reduced. The signal
intensities in the head of bilateral femur is altered (more
on left side) seen as hypointense signal on T1 weighted and
T2 weighted images and as hyperintense signal on STIR
images. The contour of the head of right fermur ,however, is
maintained There is no evidence of joint effusion The
masculature surrounding the hip joint appear normal "
I have few questions.
1. What does all this mean?
2. If she doesn't get surgery ( which is what doc
recommended in India) what are the options?
3. Can I bring her here for treatment to US ?
4. How much does it cost to treat something like that in US
( obviously she won't qualify for insurance)
I would appreciate any responses. Thanks
