Since getting my bike back from the LBS, while climbing out of the saddle (mostly), the front middle ring of my triple auto-shifts to the smallest ring. Sheldon's article at http://sheldonbrown.com/autoshift.html describes auto-shifting as a rear der issue. Is the fix any different than greasing the cable? Could it be all the crud I've been riding in?

What did the shop do? Tune it up? Repair something? Install something?
Could be lots of things (cable tension, der adjustment, stiff link, etc.); more info will help.

Well, what they did was repack my rear hub. But they screwed it up. The guy had just gotten back from Mexico or whatever and had been up for thirty five hours and he reversed the smallest cog and mismounted something else when he reassembled it. Of course I didn't know that till I got it home. (They screwed up the last re-pack too and I ended up repacking it myself.) So I brought it back. They corrected their error and to show good faith I suppose they straightened my derailer hanger and replaced (what I thought was just) my rear shifter cable (Ultegra brifters). Maybe he replaced the left one too. I tried a thorough cleaning but haven't greased the cable under the BB yet though. Maybe the cable tension for the front shifter cable is too tight?
These guys are nice guys, but they're really wearing my patience thin with their service.

Possibly. This exact thing was happening on my bike, but it was due to the left downtube shifter not being installed tightly enough. \\paul
