  1. thanks for the responses to the Audax postings that i made. The
postings of the 9th and 10th were identical because they did not
appear to be on the Freeserve newserver and I've just discovered them
tacked onto the original thread of 24th Aug.

Thanks for the advice and support. I know that I will almost certainly
be comfortable with a 100k ride as I often clock up 90km rides when I
pootle up to Darlington from Leeds.

I've pledged to get out on one of my bikes every weekend plus evenings
when I'm not too busy with other things.

Now working on cutting back on the calories to reduce my porkiness -
loosing several stones must be worth a few km per hour :-) My rides
to Darlington average out at around 22km/hr. That's a 1:1 ratio with
my bodyweight in stones - here's hoping for an inverse relationship
between wewight and average speed ;-)

MSeries - I will come out with you at some stage.

The usual rule of thumb is this:

Say you can ride 90k in comfort and with no discomfort, then you
    should be able to
    * ride 180k though it'll probably not be the most enjoyable experience
    * ride 140k in comfort, if you take a few days of after wards to recover

    (90k = 2/3 140k if you're wondering)
