That's a WalMart Schwinn, and the country of origin for the components is China. Every Schwinn I see on the website is either listed as "IMPORTED" or China. Not Taiwan. Maybe Schwinn's bike shop offerings are Taiwanese, but the 'mart bikes are definitely Chinese. I look for the bike shop line to disappear in the near future. Enthusiasts have no reason to buy a Schwinn, which is saddled with the 'mart bike stigma, when they can buy another brand. People who buy bikes at WalMart aren't going to pay more for a bike at an LBS with the Schwinn name. Pacific has destroyed the good name of a classic American company by putting it on Chinese garbage.

And for the price! $160 for that? For less than another $100 you can go into any lbs and get a comfort hybrid, entry level of course, and have a bike that is at least two or three times the bike that Schwinn could ever dream of being.
