Considering that he likely wouldn't have won the 2007 race without Rasmussen
being pulled out, I think that's a bit of a stretch. Not that I wouldn't
consider him the favorite for 2008, but I suspect (hope?) we'll see Contador
evolve as a more balanced rider, someone interested in more than just the
'Tour and maybe a token classic.

I think it's likely we'll see Bruyneel put together a serious effort to make
a run at the other classics than we have in the past. Almost as much a
certainty as Google keeping my remarks around to prove me foolish..

Lance is a the type of rider who appears once if once or twice in ones
lifetime. Cycling has been very luck to have riders like Merckx,
Hinault, Indurain and Armstrong.in our liftimes.

Let's make some points here - Merckx has claimed over and over that he was
framed for doping because he was winning too much. The loony toon characters
here give such a scenario no credence. According to them his competition and
the other team managers and the race promoters were all as pure as the
driven snow and would have no reason to try to frame him.

Armstrong has been accused of using drugs and yet the lab which has claimed
finding drugs in his system has shown itself to be almost entirely
incompetent. At the moment the UCI is struggling to maintain their veracity
among people of higher intellect than Skid Row bums.
