  1. When someone says that they are working through 2X20 or 4X15 intervals, does the first number mean the number of intervals that you do and the second number mean the amount of time that you do the intervals? Be gentle with me....

    Yeah - you got it.

    Often there is also a recovery time period specified between efforts, although the lower the intensity of the efforts, the less important that is.

    For Functional Threshold efforts, that might be a 5-10 min easy spin in between.
