Interesting article about/interview with McGee - "Forgotten Brad McGee still in pursuit of greater glory" - besides his track ambitions for the Olympics, he's slated to ride the Giro, and says he's unsure whether CSC will ask him (let him?) ride the Tour.
Comments on doping too - is the image problem "being corrected" or is it getting a lot worse right now before any hope of improvement? I'm not sure I agree with him on that - sure more is being done, but any image improvement in cycling won't come for a while IMO.
Quoted post said:He says the image problem with drugs is being corrected.
When McGee started 10 years ago, doping was so institutionalised that it was regarded as essential.
"I was offered drugs and they couldn't believe that I would refuse," he said.
"Now the wheel has turned full circle and people are coming back to me and saying, 'You were right'."
(side note - I appreciate being able to write all of this post in one place, rather than having to separate out the racing part and the doping comments part, or only posting on racing and begging others not to discuss McGee's doping comments because then the mods would close down or move my thread 😉).
