Your post affords me the opportunity to make some comments I have long been
thinking about.
It is apparent to me that my effort to drag some other newsgroup threads and
hence posters here to ARBR has not succeeded. I attribute this to the fact
that ARBR is essentially a forum for Freds. They will shy away from my type
of contentious posts. And so I have decided to severely restrict threads
from other newsgroups from getting here to ARBR if I am in any way involved.
I think the net result of this policy will be that ARBR will be quite empty
for awhile, but it may revive as the old Freds (like you) return and new
Freds come on board. I will continue to be the master of everything off
topic, but I will not interfere with any on topic posts. Who knows, maybe a
more peaceful newsgroup will succeed where my warlike one obviously did not.

As a follow-up to the above, I will only monitor ARBR and RBS from now on.
Those who want to get in on my eloquence will have to go to those two groups
to keep up to speed on the Great Ed Dolan. Of course, it goes without saying
that if others from other newsgroups take me on, I will deal with them as
time and opportunity permits and on their own groups too. But I will not
prolong such exposure to ARBR and RBS. We are rather small groups and made
up mostly of Fred types. All the other groups are largely made up of idiot
types, so being a Fred type is not the worst fate by any means.
