If you want to /have to do something close in distance but
different in mindset, how about the Amish country in LaGrange
County, Indiana (near Elkhart)?

The weather won't be much different than Grand Rapids, but
there are lots of paved, quiet roads, and the Amish ambiance
does create a mental distance from the world.

It's a thought, but I was hoping to find an already-rolling club ride
and/or a dance weekend. I could just follow the arrows from Amishland &
Lakes, but riding past winter cornfields by myself is not really my
idea of a fun time. (And for a variety of reasons the dance in Goshen
is not one I will be attending anytime soon; one of the organizers
attempted to assault me at a local dance last year, and I'd rather not
find out how good my phone coverage is for a 911 call.)

But someone in London ONT sent info on their local dance weekend, and I
have a question into their cycling club.

Anyone know how to reach the G. Caboto Velo Club in Windsor? (doubling
my coverage)
