  1. I just purchased a "CycleOps Electronic +" trainer about a week ago. The "Electronic +" version is the one that comes with NetAthlon software by FitCentric and includes the PC interface cable.

Although the unit seems to work fine when using only the digital handlebar mounted display unit, I have experienced continuous problems when running the unit connected to a PC. When connected, both the CycleOps display and the NetAthlon program show erroneous data and the software often pauses for no apparent reason. I have tried this on 2 new computers running Win XP. Both have 2+ GHz processors and plenty of RAM, but both exhibit the same behavior. I have tried contacting both CycleOps and FitCentric, but have not yet got a reply for tech support.

I am wondering if other owners have experienced these problems and/or found any resolution? I would like to think that I just have a bad unit that could be replaced, because the PC interface and software (which costs an additional $200) is fairly unusable the way it is.

  2. A bump to see if anyone has any info for me.

  3. Gruppo,

I have used the software for approx 6 years with a Minoura ICE trainer. I run into the software pausing concern you described when I overload my graphics card. Try fewer pacers and/or rabbits, change the display resolution, number of colors, etc-- or update your graphics card. This probably is of no help to you as I am about as technologically advanced as a shovel!

PS I am suprised that either company is that slow in responding. I have had good luck with FitCentric support and many posts on this site praise CycleOps for their service.

Keep us posted! What type of erroneous data were you getting?

To update on this problem, CycleOps support did respond with a phone call after a few days but was unable to help because the problem is essentially a software issue. We did discuss the graphics card requirements and found that both of the computers I tried exceed the requirements and should easily run the program.

To date, FitCentric has still not responded to emails and I have given up on using the program until there is some resolve.

Although I like the CycleOps Electronic trainer, I would not recommend the Electronic Plus version (the one that includes the software).
