Had ours for about nine years, used regularly and no complaints so far.
It is always fun erecting the tent because it never seems to take the
same shape twice! It takes about 8-10 minutes to erect and secure. One
thing I would recommend is a piece of polythene or other waterproof
sheet for placing underneath the tent inner in foul weather. The reason
is that we once pitched in a hollow that became very wet overnight and
damp seeped in through the floor. Since using a thin sheet of poly it
has not been a problem. The colour was maroonish when new but has now
faded to a reddish brown. Not a problem though becasue it looks old and
is not an attractive prospect for thieves. Just room for two people, no
more. Can sit up at the door end but not at the rear. This season one
of the peg tags came adrift from the tent corner, fixed with needle and
thread, no other faults to date.

Summary: 160ish quid well spent.

Yeah I always use a extra layer under the groundsheet on my tents. Just
wonder on the specs your hydra has as current model has something like 8000
HH rated groundsheet but it feels soft and vulnerable to anything sharp?

Don't know about the rating but it might be vulnerable to sharps - so
far we've had no problems that way. Will look at the label at the
weekend and let you know if there is any information on it.

As for synthetics not lasting, maybe that's why the corner tag came
adrift recently. The colour is certainly fading now.

Sorry about the delay in answering. Checked the tent label at the
weekend when we used it in Deeside. No indication of ratings but date
of manufacture Feb. 1995.
