  1. ....ever get stuck with a $5 a minute collect call from Zero Plus Dialing?

Both phone booths in Kernville that I used on our Cannell trip to call
home were run by ZPDI and little did I know that they're such scumbags
because I didn't have a chance to ask what their rates were:

If you're not getting cell coverage in Kernville don't use any of the
pay phones from Zero Plus Dialing, I wonder if there are any in town
that aren't ZPDI. Good luck if you're miles from anywhere, you're cell
isn't working, and the only phone within 100 miles is a ZPDI pay phone.

Tomorrow I'm going to try to work it out with them, if they don't credit
a substantial refund to my AT&T bill I'll have AT&T drop the charges,
and ZPDI can bill me directly. If they bother to bill me directly the
bill will go right to my congressperson. Chances are they won't bother
because they're raking in so much money on these pay phones.

Can't remember the last time I had to use a pay phone; I hate the
things. Zero sure sounds like a Scam Artist ---->

    Good luck.

Well jesus . . thank god we
    deregulated this kind of
stuff. Who knows what it would
    cost if the efficiency of
    capitalism and private
    enterprise weren't here to
    keep costs down !

No chit. Anywhere there is a lack of choice the consumer is going to
    get screwed.

Well, anytime the consumer has a lack of choice AND the primary goal of
the service provider is profit, yes.
