You might stop all dairy, white flour products, peanuts for
a while to start with. You might take enough vitamin C to
help your bowels move. You might use pressure on the accu-
points along side your nose. -
If you have high blood pressure , heart disease, vascular
problems or are currently taking any prescribed meds you
should definitely check with your doctor on this, over the
counter meds for sinus sometimes contain decongestants that
could be quite problematic even deadly for someone with any
of the above, if you have any of those problems your doctor
may have to prescribe something for you. If you're not sure,
again check with your doctor. In my opinion 'advil sinus' is
probably one of the best for dealing with sinus headaches
and congestion."Gulffritallary" <[email hidden]> wrote in message

I've recently been plagued with these - does anyone have
any suggestions?a few easy things
avoid most sinus meds,,as many actually make it worse by
making the mucous thickerdrink lots of water...
use steam...either frequent hot showers..or buy a "facial
steamer"...cost about $25 and are actually for complexion
issues...but breathing in the steam does wonders for
liquifying secretions(I recently had my sister buy one..and
6 weeks of sinus headaches GONE)hot compresses on the face can help...
buy "ocean spray" or any generic saline nasal spray...don't
make your own,,as it has to be sterile...hold one nostril
closed...squirt the stuff up the other,,,take a deep "sniff
snuff"..repeat the other side...since it has no meds in
it..can use it as often as needed..actually antibiotics should be the LAST gun to use...as
thickened mucous will NOT be amenable to antibiotics...Entex...several different formulations...script only..can
also help...contains pseudoephhedrine and guaifenesin....or
phenylephrine and guaifenesinavoid antihistamines...they are drying...
good luck...obviously OK to use pain stuff for the
headache..but gotta work on cleaning out those clogged
cavitieshawki.....

antibiotics will only be effective if there is an infection
present , they won't work if the causative factor is viral
or allergy relatedQuoted message said:
pseudoephhedrine and guaifenesin
a decongestant and an expectorant, found in some robitussin
formulations. (also other over the counter preparations)
expectorants are supposed to "thin" mucus secretions.decongestants such as pseudoephedrine work by constricting
blood vessels and not allowing the engorgement of blood
that often takes place when your body is trying to defend
itself . Often times feeling "stuffed up" is actually
capillaries and small blood vessels that are engored with
blood. anti-histamines are ok if you have alot of thin
secretions and are really "drippy" other wise they can
actually aggravate the situation (as Hawki said) The steam
suggestion was a good one."Hawki63" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:20040519161113.17730.00001741@mb-
