Hi Guys & Gals
In the Sydney papers there is talk of reintroducing deposits (as when I was a kid) on drink containers in NSW, which obviously includes glass.
Seeing Sth Aus has this system is there any less glass on the side of the road than in other parts of the country.
Not planning on moving house, but would envy anyone riding with less broken glass then I encounter on my rides. Had a gut full of punctures, regardless of the tyres I have tried they are all vulnerable especially as they wear.
I know you will still have other debris causing flats but I calculate half of mine are glass induced.
Bye All

Dont know about SA but fully agree with you on the punctures. The idots throw their bottles into the bike lanes because they hate cylists on the roads which means we have to ride as as close as we can to the white line to aviod the glass. Some motorists are as dumb as dog s**t.
It would be good if the bike lanes could be sweept once a month to keep them clear. but as if thats going to happen -

Bye AllIMHO i don't reckon so. It's only a 5c deposit after all, hardly an inducement to stop idiots from smashing glass on roadways.
A "dob in a f##wit" programme would have better results.
Most of the stuff I have pulled out from tyres and tubes the last few years has been thin bits of metal, thorns, etc, and if it is glass, it is most likely to be the brown "pickaxe" beer bottle stuff and I'm unsure if they carry a deposit.
The deposit scheme increases the ammount of scruffy types going thru bins, and that's about it.
