any advice is good advice

Hey all, I just bought a road bike and I want to starting racing it. I know about cat5-1, but not much else. Ive look at usacycling.org and viewed all the licensing stuff, but still dont know that first "foot in the door move." Any advice to get me to that starting line? Thanks
