Another disabled by statins. The following is from an e-
mail received by Doug, disabled by statins himself and one
of the subjects of a Tahoe World article posted elsewhere
in the newsgroup. Note the comment "14 months with no
relief". This is typical of statin disability: months and
years with no remission of symptoms caused by mitochondrial
and cellular damage.
"Doug, I just read your article about the side-effects you
have experienced on Lipitor. My husband is also suffering
side-effects. He was on Lipitor for four years and has been
off for *14 months with no relief*. In fact, his symptoms
seem to continue to progress. He has been to the Mayo Clinic
8 times and has had a muscle biopsy, EMG's, MRI's, CT scan,
and numerous blood tests. Nothing shows up to give his
neurologist a clue as to what is causing his extreme leg and
foot pain and weakness. They have printed in their reports
that they feel Lipitor has played a role in his
disabilities.
My husband is trying to keep working ... He has an extremely
hard time walking, walking with a staggering gate. He has to
sit down to rest after walking a half block due to pain and
fatigue. He is doing therapy and also taking CoQ10 which is
the supplement Lipitor removes from the muscles. However,
*so far there is no relief*. He now feels the weakness and
pain is extending into his arms. We, too, question if he
will be able to continue or if he will end up in a
wheelchair.
I feel the only way we can keep any others from
experiencing these side-effects and the problems it causes
is a class action law suit but, as reported, until the
government steps in there is no chance of that. I too have
sent my report to the FDA."
