  1. Here's another classic example of why people can't lose weight. I was
at the supermarket deciding which type of Progresso soup to buy since
they were on sale for $1. This short lady who's obviously overweight
made a remark that they should have all of the Progresso soups on sale,
not just select varieties. She said she was on a diet. So:

Me: Yeah, that would make it easier. I'm buying the mushroom, cause
    I'm doing LC myself.

Her: Oh, me too. You don't look like you need to lose weight.

Me: Thanks, I'm trying to stay that way. The mushroom has 7g of carb.

Her: Yeah, but it has all that fat. These are the low carb ones,
pointing to the Progresso Carb Monitor ones, that aren't on sale.(BTW,
the mushroom only has like 10g of fat per serving anyway)

Me: Well, the carb monitor ones have about the same amount of carbs as
the mushroom or onion and if you're doing LC, you're interested in
carbs, not the fat. If you're doing low fat or low cal, that's another
story. If you want one that's LC and LF, try the Escarole.

Her: But it has all that sodium.

Me: I've had great success with Atkins and it works.

Her: Yeah, it's good to lose weight, but it's bad for you if you do it
    too long.

Me: I'd have to disagree with that. I think it's great long term and
I've been doing it a long time. If you look at my cart, it's filled
with all kinds of healthy food, like chicken, tofu, and vegs

Her: Oh, I thought you couldn't eat vegs on Atkins. Or was that the
    other diet?

Me: Sure you can eat vegs. You should read the book.

Her: Oh, I have the book! (Guess the diff between having it and
reading it was lost on her)

So, is it any wonder people can't lose weight? This woman is
absolutely clueless and doesn't know whether to count carbs, cals, fat,
or anything else. She'll probably be telling people how she tried LC
    and it doesn't work.
