  1. Here is another request for information for any of you "armchair sports
physicians" out there. I dont think I need to call a doc yet, but wondering
if any of you have had this experience.

Training for a marathon, and ran 20 miles last sunday. afterward, had a
sharp pain just above my knee on the outside of my leg, almost where the
quad meets the knee. There seems to be a tendon or ligament there which
    connects to the knee.

Cross trained all week then ran again yesterday and it was pretty sore.
Seemed to warm up after a few miles. I'm wondering what it might possibly
be. Never heard of such a thing.

I think I'll try some light running as long as I can keep it from getting
worse. But I have a marathon coming up and dont want to lose conditioning.

    Thanks

I have no experience in this, but is this possibly the biceps femoris?

Look up Illiotibial Band ITB and see if it fits. See

  4. Pete,

Why take a chance at ruining the training you have invested in thus far by
not seeing a healthcare professional? If you have direct access in your
state you can probably see a physical therapist easier than getting in to
see a doctor, and the cost is cheaper.

A poor diagnosis is going to lead to poor treatment and a poor outcome.
