  1. I know that the subject of household insurance comes up frequently here -
    this isn't a recomendation, just a 'heads up' - ING Direct seem to have
    entered the home insurance market with a policy that looks to my eyes to be
    suitable for those owning several pedal cycles, or cycles of a high value.
    The policy even *seems* to cover theft of machines up to a value of £10000
    as long as they are kept in a "locked building or secured by a suitable
    locking device to a permanent structure or motor vehicle" !

    I have absolutely no idea of likely policy costs, but being new in the
    market they may well be competetive - at least to start with.
