  1. Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone out there can help me. Recently my Cannondale R1000 with Record components has been making a 'clicking' like sound when i ride. it doesn't happen if i'm out the saddle climbing or on a descent. It seems to occur if i'm pedalling at about 25-30 k's. I haven't noticed anything performance wise but it drives me nuts. I keep the bike clean and wash it frequently but i'm definitely no mechanic. The noise appears to be coming from the bottom bracket, though i'm not really sure. Could it be riding position? Thanks

  2. Seatpost, BB, pedals, and headtube are the usual suspects. You said it doesn't happen when you are out of the saddle, so I would start with the seatpost. Make sure it has some grease on it and check the tightness of the seatpost collar.

There's a ton of past threads about phantom noises, just do a thread title search for "clicking" or "ticking".

Last time I had that problem it was the chain that had stretched. For some reason it made a clicking noise on the chainring every time my right foot put power down. That was six months ago and it's started again. I've checked everything else and it must be the chain again.
