You may remember some weeks ago I had "creaky cranks" [tm]. Well last Monday I cycled the 10 miles
to Leyland to see Merlin Cycles, they open till 8 twice a week which is a bonus for me.
They didn't have LX in stock to fit, but offered me a good deal on standard deore, and fitted BB and
crankset there and then. I also bought a cycle computer, singletrack and something else which my
memory fails me on. Nice people good service reasonable prices for a retail store.
After my mini epic off road adventure on sunday my "creaky cranks"[tm] re-appeared. Most odd think
I. So I call them up on Monday, they say bring it in I'll take a look. So I cycle down there this
morning and they take a look. It appears that they're just settling in, a quick undo and tighten up
seems to solve the issue. Any more trouble, please bring it back, we'll swap them out. Excellent.
So whilst I'm there I pick up an Alien tool, 2 pairs of V brake blocks and a patch kit. Whislt the
guy is totting it all up, I mock "thirty quid all in?" and nearly fell over when the reply was "yeah
alright then..." !!! now the alien is RRP 34.99, their price 29.99, Vblocks are a fiver a pair and a
patch kit is, umm, well not a lot. But still awesome deal! I wouldn't expect to get it again, but
I'm happy for now.

reasonable (for retail) prices and good deals. It's not even a bad ride - if a bit boring. Although
I hit a whopping
37.8 mph though a speed camera on the way home - I *so* hope it flashed and caught me 🙂
