Another bike question

I am looking to purchase a bike that is around 1200 that has campy components. I know that it would shift approximately the same as a shimano but I love the feeling of the campy shifters. If anyone has any ideas. I really want a bike I can do anything on, like able to put cyclocross tires on it and also still being able to race. If anyone has any suggestions Jeff
