  1. I've never done Bike NY. Last year was the first time I
became aware of the ride. Last year, if I remember
correctly, the bikenewyork website indicated that Amtrak was
running some trains that allowed you to roll your bike onto
a baggage car and roll it off at in New York. I don't see
any arrangement for that this year, and I can't find any
information about trains allowing bikes to be rolled on
Amtrak trains this year. Am I missing something or are they
not doing that this year? I live in DC and would love to
just take my bike onto a train and get off in NYC. Anyone
know of a train between DC and NYC that allows this? Based
on my past research into this subject, I'm not confident
that Amtrak offers this service, but just want to make sure
    I'm not missing something.

  2. Bikes are always allowed as checked luggage on Amtrak
although it may not travel with you if you take the Acela
service from DC. You have to box them and be at the station
at least an hour prior to the departure. Go to
www.amtrak.com and look under Checked Luggage section. GH
