What's the walking like down the west side of the River East Allen
from Allenheads to Allendale Town? Can one actually follow the rights
of way marked on the OS map, or do they fall into the category of
"yes they are RoWs but not actually walkable tracks, so get out your
machete and start chopping your way through"? Would it be preferable
to just follow the various minor roads up the side of the dale that
form an alternative for much of the way? (I'm working out my own
version of the Reivers' Way and will have come over the moors from
Blanchland to Allenheads to have a drink before proceeding on to
Allendale Town. The actual Reivers' Way takes a different route from
Corbridge to Allendale Town.)
